About Vestec

Vestec aims to popularize, commoditize and demystify speech recognition by leveraging unique Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to create powerful, low-cost, standards-based ASR and NLU engines. We believe speech recognition has not enjoyed widespread acceptance due to: (a) high cost of speech enabling products; (b) poor recognition accuracy of speech software; (c) poor semantic interpretation of recognized results; and (d) overall difficulty of speech application development and maintenance.

Recent advances in AI are creating a powerful paradigm shift in speech recognition and semantic understanding technologies. Utilization of these AI techniques reduce ASR and NLU software costs, improve speech recognition accuracy, increase semantic interpretation accuracy, and simplify speech application development process. In addition, emergence of grammar writing and platform integration standards are reducing switching costs to cheaper speech products from conventional overpriced offerings.

Vestec was founded by a distinguished group of AI researchers from Canada’s famed University of Waterloo, one of the top centers of natural language understanding research in the world. Our research team has deep expertise in a full spectrum of AI technologies, including fuzzy logic, soft computing, neural networks, natural language processing, and knowledge representation. We have supplemented the core team with experienced product, engineering, marketing and sales professionals.
